As you’ve probably already seen in past blog posts and in my galleries, one of the most popular locations for engagement photo sessions around here is Lost Gulch Overlook on Flagstaff Road in Boulder.
And for good reason! Easy access for most of the year, close to the city and amazing views all in one. But all of the portraits I had done before were in warmer times of the year. So when we scheduled Allie & Nate’s engagement session for mid-January, I figured there would be some snow.
I was right. There was definitely a decent chunk of snow for us to walk through at Gross Reservoir (and Allie braved it wearing flats!) and there was definitely a cold wind coming through. But the snow had also packed down and turned into slick ice especially among the rocks at Lost Gulch that I even slipped and fell backward during the session! I’m fine now, and still so thankful we were out there because the colors on the clouds by the end of the evening were so pretty.
And plus, these two are both super sweet, and I loved that Nate kept making her laugh!
Already counting down the days to their wedding at Lionsgate Event Center in October! <3
